THERE IS A LOT OF "GREEN" TERMINOLOGY IN THE WORLD TODAY AND WE KNOW FIRST HAND HOW CONFUSING IT CAN BE—BELOW ARE A FEW TERMS EXPLAINED TO HELP YOU UNDERSTAND ITS APPLICATION TO YOUR PACKAGING CHOICES.

REDUCE & RECREATE

We are dedicated to reducing the volume of waste caused by packaging. We offer a range of materials, such as RPET (recycled polyethylene terephthalate) that is recreated out of recycled plastics that would otherwise be sent to landfills and could take thousands of years to break down. Another way to reduce waste is by using compostable packaging that is made of plant-based or fossil fuel materials.

BIODEGRADABLE

Materials that can decompose, usually by bacteria or sunlight, into basic components. Most organic materials (paper, grass clippings, food scraps), under the right conditions, are biodegradable.

RECYCLED CONTENT

Also known as recovered material content, is the percentage of material a product is made from that has been recovered from consumers in the municipal solid waste stream (post-consumer content) plus any industrial materials salvaged for reuse (pre-consumer content).

REUSE

Bags that can be used for a period of time are not just friendly to the environment, but fantastic marketing tools for your business. We have expertise in working with a range of reusable textiles, including washable paper, cotton, canvas, polyester, and polypropylene non-woven and polypropylene woven materials.

SUSTAINABILITY

Social and environmental practices that protect and enhance the human and natural resources needed by future generations to enjoy a quality of life equal to or greater than our own.

RECYCLABLE

Material that still has useful physical or chemical properties after serving its original purpose and can be reused or remanufactured to make new products. Plastic, paper, glass, steel, aluminum cans and used oil are examples of recyclable materials.

RECYCLE

Paper and cardboard are some of the most recyclable materials available. To ensure your packaging is as eco-friendly as possible, we offer post-consumer or post-industrial recycled paper and cardboard. Alternatively, materials marked as FSC-certified will be sourced from sustainably managed forests and could also be an excellent choice for your company.

ENVIRONMENTALLY-FRIENDLY
Also eco-friendly, nature-friendly, and green, are synonyms used to refer to goods and services considered to inflict minimal or no harm on the environment.

POST-CONSUMER CONTENT
Percentage of materials recovered by consumers (from the municipal solid waste stream). For example, a newspaper might be made from 30 percent recovered newsprint.

POST-CONSUMER MATERIALS
Materials recovered through recycling programs (i.e., materials recovered from the municipal solid waste stream, not from internal industrial processes). These materials are often used to make new products. Newspapers that are recycled by consumers, for example, are a post consumer material used to make newsprint.
