THE RESULTS ARE IN! Pantone's Color of the Year is ULTRA VIOLET
Updated: Feb 14, 2018
I'm sure it comes as no surprise that color is incredibly important to us in the packaging world. The right color can make or break a design, working in conjunction with texture, finish and material to create a truly stunning presentation. We rely heavily on Pantone's color guide, employing physical and digital swatches to make sure we hit our partner's color requirements on the nose.
As the authority on color, the Pantone Color Institute also does a bit of prognosticating and each year identifies a color of the year. 2017 was the year of "GREENERY" (Pantone 15-0343), but for 2018 the Pantone team has identified "ULTRA VIOLET" (Pantone 18-3838). Communicating "originality, ingenuity, and visionary thinking that points us toward the future that suggests the mysteries of the cosmos," Ultra Violet has long been a favorite of musicians, royalty and leading minds. Pairing ultra violet with a matte laminated finish or hot stamped logo could bring a creative, luxurious touch to any project.
